A Typical Day

Here is what daily life is like for Colina children…

6:00AM Wake-up bell rings.

6:00AM Breakfast for Secondary school children.

7:00AM Breakfast for the Primary and Kinder children.

7:45AM Primary children walk to school with an adult.

8:00AM – 9:00PM Remaining children, volunteers, and staff have devotions.

9:00 – 1:30 PM Jobs are assigned after devotions, including cleaning up and lunch preparation.

12:25PM Primary school children walk home from school with adult

1:30PM Lunch (12:30PM Lunch for Secondary Children.)

2:30PM Back to work for the adults; the older children take turns in the kitchen (washing dishes, mopping the floor, etc.). The younger children play on the playground. Homework begins: computer and library available for use.

4:00PM Children who are 10 years old and older are assigned to clean a specific area of the complex. An "inspector" makes sure the job is done with excellence.

5:00PM - 6:00PM Mandatory Homework Hour--the children are divided into groups and have an adult to help with homework. If they have no homework, they still must study or read.

6:00PM Dinner

7:00PM - 8:00PM More homework, typing, or computer work if needed.

7:30PM The younger children go to their rooms and have devotions.

8:00PM Older children go to their rooms and have devotions. Male staff or male college students members make sure everything is locked up and that the children are safe and secure.

9:00PM Bedtime for younger children.

9:30PM Bedtime for older children.


Church services are held at 7:00 pm on Thursdays and 5:00 pm on Sundays. Weekends include soccer league games and play-time with visiting groups. Schedule varies during summer and holidays.
